Hi. I’m DeAnn. Welcome to my blog. Here’s a little about me.
I’ve been married to Mike for a very long time. I still find him entertaining. Most of the time.
We have three kids. They, too, are often entertaining. However, what I find funny, they find embarrassing and have asked that I not blog about any of it. As they shall soon learn, life is full of disappointments.
I am a political junkie, an indifferent cook, a less-than-stellar housekeeper, an accidental Girl Scout leader, a coffee addict, and an occasionally disappointed but always faithful San Francisco 49ers fan. (Boys and girls, can you say, “Go ‘Niners!?”) My marketable skills include talking on the phone, public speaking and I can translate “lawyer” if called upon to do so.
I am also the owner of Leverage Public Affairs, a communications firm specializing in grassroots advocacy. I help organizations engage people in their lobbying and political efforts.
In theory, I’ve started this blog to expound on politics and the tactics, strategies and messaging used in political campaigning. However, I have very little impulse control so I will probably also share stories about my kids: the fact that our ten-year-old recently announced that his career plans include being either a “professional gamer or a professional YouTuber” (are these really professions??); that recently four kids on our block (including our daughter) obtained their drivers licenses in the same WEEK (if you live in Naperville, consider this a warning); and my many adventures navigating health insurance bureaucracies (we have a son with cerebral palsy).
